I haven't quite unpacked everything in this post, by Jeff Dunn at internetmonk.com yet, but it struck something really... profound for me. Tomorrow we celebrate His resurrection, but it's good to keep in mind that this isn't a strictly chronological event - He died, He rose again, and now we're past all that. In some way, Jesus' death, as well as His resurrection, remains a present reality.

ReplyDeleteAndrás Visky, my favorite Transylvanian playwright, calls this idea (or something like it) "resurrection without release." It shows up in his plays -- bring this up sometime when we're together, and I'll talk your ear off about it.
Also, have you read Life of Pi? One of my favorite books of all time. Yann Martel came to Calvin (of course) and lectured about it, and it's one of the best book talks I've ever heard. I can talk your ear off about that, too.
And here I totally missed my chance to bring this up at lunch today because I hadn't seen the comment yet. I'll have to read Life of Pi. It's one of those books that I really should have read by now, and simply haven't.
